Davis Advisors

An independent, employee-owned investment management firm, Davis Advisors was founded in 1969. The firm recognises that its success is determined by its ability to build and preserve wealth for its clients, and its independence allows it to make what it believes are the best long-term decisions for clients.

The experienced investment team has successfully managed investments across a variety of market and economic conditions using its proprietary Davis Investment Discipline, underpinned by patient, long-term investment practices. The team concentrates on the underlying economic and business fundamentals of each investment and maintains an emphasis on rigorous research.

Davis adopts a forward-looking approach, staying ahead of change and secular trends, and being early to identify which companies will be the new leaders two, three and five years from now. The team is willing to look different from the benchmark. While this means they will at times be out of step with market returns over shorter time periods, Davis believes it has been integral to both outperforming the index since the strategy was incepted and to adding value as a true active manager.

A strong alignment of interests between investment managers and clients is a central tenet of Davis’s philosophy. The Davis family, employees and directors have more than US$2 billion invested side-by-side with investors across all portfolios, as of most recent quarter end.

PAN-Tribal Global Equity Fund

Why PAN-Tribal Selected Davis Advisors

As well as a unique and time-tested investment discipline, solid long-term performance track record and a quality investment team, there are several other reasons we wanted to work with Davis Advisors:

Longevity – over 50 years of expertise

Davis has successfully invested through many environments, including inflation, recession, rising and falling interest rates, and bull and bear markets – the team’s decision-making benefits from this half a century of experience.

Transparency

Davis demonstrates transparency in its investment process and business operations, maintaining openness in its interactions with stakeholders throughout the organisation.

An exceptional alignment of interests

The Davis family, employees and directors have more than US$2 billion invested side-by-side with fellow shareholders; they experience the same risks and reap the same rewards.

Rigorous investment discipline

Davis does not chase the latest fads and manias or make investment decisions based on unknowable short-term market forecasts. Instead, portfolios are built one company at a time, with intense research into each company’s long-term prospects.

They ‘eat their own cooking’

A large portion of each portfolio manager’s remuneration consists of units in the fund they manage.
